Garth Brooks Concert: Trisha
The KKOW Garth Tour Bus departed the station at 4:30 Monday (11/12) bound for the Sprint Center and the Garth Brooks "World Tour".
Trisha Yearwood opened the show. Her first song? Her latest Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love of course! Unfortunately, Mrs. Brooks was feeling a little under the weather and was losing her voice she admitted. She was quite the trooper though performing her hits, "How Do I?", "She's in Love with the Boy", "Xs and Os", and "Wrong Side of Memphis". Those who had seen other nights told us she usually sang a duet with Garth during his set, however, due to her illness she did not perform the duet Monday night.

Garth Brooks Concert: The Entrance Part I
Garth! Garth! Garth! Finally someone appears on top of the piano, arms spread wide! That's got to be him!... or not. The Fiddle player, Jimmy, had quite the grand entrance!
|
Garth Brooks Concert: The Entrance Part II
THERE He is! Garth appeared out of the floor in front of the drum set! Most of the audience was expecting him to drop from the ceiling. Some of our bus riders were told by some nice police officers outside the Sprint Center that he alternated his entrances each night. Some nights he flew... some he appeared from below.
|
Garth Brooks Concert: Not a bad seat
The Sprint Center was a really NICE venue! There wasn't a bad seat in the house and if you were too far away to get a good close up look at Garth or Trisha... just check out the Jumbo Tron!
|
Garth Brooks Concert: Jammin'
Garth was really great about introducing his band members and back up singers and allowing them their own ovations, even teasing them when audience members had signs for them rather for for Garth, himself! The band member with the most applause? The bass guitar player(on Garth's right in this picture) from Topeka, Kansas. The crowd went crazy... TWICE!!
|
Garth Brooks Concert: Memories
After performing many of his hits and a couple newer songs, Garth came back out on stage to perform 2 encores! The second encore was just him and a guitar and he played a few covers including: "Starry Starry Night" by Don McLean, Bob Seger's "Turn the Page", George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning", and Billy Joel's "Piano Man."
Here Garth performs his current single, "More than a Memory".

1. Wal-mart receipt for EXACTLY $9.69
It all began when Kelsi told Bob Burk she'd do ANYTHING for tickets to see Reba perform at Country Fever. Bob thought about it and eventually came up with a scavenger hunt. Kelsi and Jacob arrived at the Dan Willis Broadcast center at 2:00 in the afternoon and soon were sent all over town seeking out the items on their list. In their first challenge Kelsi and Jacob had to get a Wal-mart receipt for EXACTLY $9.69.
|
2. Picture with a REAL Cow
One of their first Scavenger hunt stops was to take a picture with a real cow. Fortunately for them, there's no shortage of those around!
|
3. Glass full of Brown M&Ms
Kelsi and Jacob were good sports and managed to get a glass full of exactly 96 Brown M&M's. I wonder what they did with the other colors?
|
5. Sidewalk Love
After finding a city commissioner that agreed to be in on the scavenger hunt, Kelsi and Jacob wrote showed their love for 96.9 The Kow in chalk on the sidewalk. All day they worked on securing the needed 96 signatures on their Kow t-shirts and soon they were off to Wal-mart to tell everyone how much they love Bob and The Kow.
|
8. Find a house number with a 9 and a 6 in it.
After shouting her undying love for 96.9 the Kow and Bob Burk at Wal-mart, Kelsi and Jacob where off in search of a house number with both a 9 and 6 in it. From there the only thing between them and Reba was a business card from someone named Bob.
|
Scavenger Hunt Winner!
Kelsi managed to find everything on Bob's list and he surprised her with tickets to all 4 nights of Country Fever!! When asked what she'd learned from the experience she replied, "Never tell Bob Burk you'd do ANYTHING for tickets!" :)
